Impressed with opportunity

Our mission at KONE is to improve the flow of urban life. To capture the essence of urbanization, we bring you stories of people from 17 cities. Washington D.C. holds a special place in Trish Clothier’s heart.

“I’ve lived in Washington D.C. for 8 years now, and I have to say the best thing the city has provided me with, is opportunity - opportunity to learn about different cultures due to the diverse population, opportunity to develop my career, and opportunity to network with many different groups and organizations. It’s also the city where I met my husband!

Washington D.C. has always felt like a commuter city, and in the past 5 years, many neighborhoods that once had vacant buildings have started to flourish with new apartment complexes, restaurants, and shopping opportunities. With the current investment and development of transit facilities, I believe commuting to the city will get smoother over the next 5 years. I'd love to see D.C.’s traffic patterns improve since it can be excessive at times.

There is a wide selection of restaurants, and one of my favorite things is trying out the different cuisines the city has to offer. Anything from Greek, French, Chinese, Caribbean, British, Indian, Portuguese, Thai, Middle Eastern, you name it, DC will have it! I also enjoy visiting the different embassies during their open houses; it’s like visiting multiple countries in one day. Last but not least, I’ll never get sick of jogging along the National Mall previewing the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, the Lincoln Reflecting pool, Lincoln Memorial, Constitution Gardens and multiple museums.”
